EXODUS from Constantinian Temples:

Take note please – these are the views of an unregenerate Gentile.

Take up your trowel? (And said who?): Without intending to, and from Constantinian Temple “pulpits” (i.e. the “church buildings” that dot the Western landscape; Jesus told disciples to take up their cross, it was Constantine who told folks to take up their TROWEL), “pastors” have (albeit unintentionally) brought the Body back to First (Old, Mosaic) Covenant dynamics. Instead of Second (New, Better, Messianic) Covenant dynamics, wherein there are many many house-based meetings, in which God wants (all) ORDINARY disciples to take part “in Spirit and truth,” we have this Temple-based (“church building”) model, whereby “the faithful” gather to ONE PLACE on Sunday, and in which ONE “ORDAINED” “pastor”/”priest”/”vicar” conducts “the service.” It is thus a reversion to a Levitical “them and us”/”clergy and laity” situation.

Deja vu: Just as the Levitical Priesthood was not the means to PERFECTION of the Israelites under the Old, First Covenant; LeviTICKLE Pastorhood is not the means to MATURATION of disciples under the New, Better, Second (Hebrews 7:11). The levy being the unscriptural salary given to the RESIDENTIAL “pastor” (Scripture DOES teach financial support of ITINERANTS); the TICKLE being the cozy one-sided message that bites NOT the hand that feeds. A primary consequence of “the pastor WRENCH” is that it disenfranchises and decommissions the Body.

Temples WITHOUT? No; temples WITHIN!: Instead of America and Britain (and indeed the world) becoming increasingly peppered with home-based flocks, where meaningful interdependent familyhood takes place (and where disciples THEMSELVES are temples of the Holy Spirit; individually and collectively; 24/7), we have a Temple-dotted landscape, wherein shallow pleasantries are exchanged on Sundays (often by Laodicean/Sardisian disciples who spend their week bringing the way of truth into disrepute in their community). Instead of “cell-based/ish” meetings in which disciples mature, increase in number, and then divide/replicate, we have Constantinian Temples in which attendees go from one decade to the next in perpetual infancy; there is often negligible organic growth, and even downright stagnation. These temples are staffed by “Curtain Menders”: courtesy of their unscriptural “job,” Catholic/Episcopalian “priests” and Protestant “pastors” have actually stitched together what God tore asunder (Matthew 27:51); hence the disenfranchised Body.

And in these temples they teach and hold fast to Augustinian (rather than APOSTOLIC) doctrine. In Protestant temples, Augustinian distortion comes in a variety of flavors: Presbyterian; Particular Baptist; and Episcopalian, to name three. Sadly, even Arminians/Wesleyans use such temples (and while what Wesleyan “pastors” teach and hold fast to, is much closer to plumb, it is still NOT totally apostolic).

When it comes to EVANGELISM of OUTSIDERS, and the weekly GATHERING of INSIDERS (note 1 Corinthians 11-14), many “evangelical” “leaders” in the West seem to have an Acts to grind, rather than an account by God the HOLY Spirit (via Luke), of how things are really meant to be (not just in Luke’s day, but right until Messiah returns).

“Apparently, over one million Americans a year are leaving Constantinian Temples, and gathering instead in family homes. SIGNIFICANTLY, George Barna (a man known for conducting Body surveys), has observed that it is those who are familiar with the Bible who are LEAVING (by implication, those who an largely UNFAMILIAR with God-breathed Scripture are content to remain under man-breathed and SERIOUSLY COUNTERPRODUCTIVE Temple dynamics). READ the EXODUS books, or simply WATCH the EXODUS playlist, and FIND OUT WHY those who study their Bible are heading for the Temple EXIT.
